New park, pavilion and playground to boost Docklands’ liveability

AMIDST ALL THE GLOOM HEARING ABOUT DISASTERS ON THE PLANNING FRONT, THIS WAS A PIECE OF GOOD NEWS. FINALLY ACTION IS BEING TAKEN TO TRY TO CORRECT THE BAD LACK OF PLANNING THAT IS DOCKLANDS. Roger Gardner of the Residents Group has been on TV and radio and is most complimentary about this move by the Premier. He says it will be great for Docklands.

Docklands will get a brand new park and community oval under an $18 million Victorian Coalition Government initiative for Australia’s premier urban renewal precinct.
Premier of Victoria Denis Napthine said Western Park will include a new football oval, community pavilion and children’s playground, as part of stage one of the four part My Docklands plan, which aims to improve community infrastructure in Docklands.
“The Coalition Government is serious about putting the community heart into Docklands, and nothing will better achieve this than the development of open public spaces,” Dr Napthine said.
